Today's Rant

Guys who don't flush the urinal. Really? How friggin' hard is it do this? It can't more than half a second. I have no interest in seeing your pee that you left behind. Where have common courtesy and manners gone? Maybe these guys are just being lazy?? Do you not flush the toilet in your own home? And one more thing, wash your hands after going to the bathroom. Savages.

The Dominican Republic. A Beautiful Place.

Hey folks, how is everyone? I know it has been a while. Last week I was back "home" in Santiago, Dominican Republic. That was my 24th trip in the last 4 and a half years. Think I like the place? There is no other place in the world like it. It's such a beautiful country. One of the first things you notice as you fly in, is how green everything is. Trees and plants everywhere.

Spending time in Santiago is really not like being on vacation at all. I have many good friends who live there, both Dominican and expats. For those who don't know, an expat is somebody from one country who now lives in another country. My life is totally normal there. I visit friends' homes, go to the movies, and just relax in the apartment I rent.

I encourage everyone to visit this wonderful place. But if you do, please get out of the all-inclusive resorts. They are la la land and no more representative of the Dominican Republic than Disneyworld is of the US.

Enjoy the fotos of DR I have posted.

Lesssons Learned

Hey everyone. How are you. I know it's been awhile since we spoke last. A lot has been going on.

I learned an important and valuable lesson the hard way. The words of "friends and acquaintances" can have an impact on the way you as a person are perceived and judged. My sincerest apologies to JO. So my advice is to pay close attention to what these people say and do so as to protect your reputation. Once that is damaged, it will be a long time before it fixed in some people's eyes, if ever.

I am heading "home" this week. Not my actual home, but the place I consider to be my second home. Santiago, Dominican Republic. Hopefully I will have lots of good pictures and stories to share when I get back. I am looking forward to seeing old friends and spending time in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Until next time.

MLB, Te Pica El Fullin???!!???!!

Yesterday, July 4th was the 70th anniversary of Lou Gehrig's Luckiest Man Alive speech. By all accounts not only was he one of the game's greatest players but a complete gentleman. So what does MLB do to ruin the memory and celebration? During the Fox national game, they break away to show the at bat of Manny Ramirez. Manny just returned from a 50 game suspension for failing a steroid test. Is this really the image and player they want to promote? Contrast him with Gehrig. Maybe if Manny had come back from missing time for cancer then I could understand this. But what is so important about a steroid cheat coming back that they have to break away from whatever game they are showing? Aren't they trying to rid the game of steroids? Bad bad job MLB and Fox.

Earlier I had blogged about disgusting kankles. Now another summer horror has reared it's ugly head. Obese women wearing belly/cut off shirts. WTF? Am I the only one who finds it nauseating when an overweight women walks around with her giant stomach spilling out and over her pants? I know not everyone is model thin. But please if you are fat do the world a favor and skip the belly shirts in public.

Update on my experience shaving with a badger hair brush to apply the shaving cream. I definitely like it. I seem to be getting much better shaves with less irritation. So far so good. I recommend this to everyone with sensitive skin.

Cuidate and keep reading. Thanks for stopping by.
